Create A Modern Moodle™ with Edwiser Plugins – A Webinar

Pukunui 2026 Webinar Series: Exploring Edwiser for a Smarter Moodle™ Experience

In the third instalment of the Pukunui 2026 webinar series, we hosted an in-depth session on the Edwiser suite, featuring guest speaker Rushi, an Edwiser product specialist.

This session focused on transforming the standard Moodle interface into a more refined and commercially viable learning environment. It explored how organisations can bridge the gap between Moodle’s robust backend capabilities and modern user expectations, particularly in terms of user experience, mobile responsiveness, and performance.

Participants were introduced to a practical approach to enhancing Moodle through a combination of design, monetisation, and data-driven decision-making.

Key Takeaways from the Session

Prioritising user experience
The Edwiser RemUI theme introduces a drag-and-drop page builder with more than 150 pre-built blocks. This allows users without technical expertise to design professional and visually engaging homepages and dashboards with ease.

Simplified course monetisation
With Edwiser Store, organisations can sell courses directly within Moodle using Stripe or PayPal. This eliminates the need for external integrations such as WordPress or WooCommerce, resulting in a more streamlined and manageable setup.

From data to actionable insight
Edwiser Reports shifts the focus from raw data logs to meaningful visual dashboards. Administrators can better understand learner engagement, including how much time users spend on specific learning activities.

Designing for mobile and accessibility
As mobile usage continues to increase, having a fully responsive platform is essential. The session also highlighted accessibility features, such as dark mode, that enhance comfort and usability for learners.

[50:06] Looking ahead to AI-driven reporting
Participants were given a preview of upcoming AI-powered reporting capabilities, where reports can be generated using simple prompts.

Q&A Highlights

Q: How do these reports handle large datasets with years of historical data?
A: To maintain system performance, Edwiser is moving towards a separate server architecture for data processing. Users can also filter reports by specific date ranges to ensure efficient queries.

Q: Can homepage content be customised for different groups of learners?
A: Yes. Dynamic blocks support Moodle groups and cohorts, allowing content to be displayed based on user segmentation.

Q: Does the theme automatically track learner progress?
A: The theme provides visual elements such as progress indicators. However, course completion tracking must be enabled within Moodle settings for this data to be reflected.

Q: Are competency reports included in the current reporting features?
A: Competency reports are not currently part of the core reporting tools, although they may be considered in future developments based on user feedback.

This session provided a clear and practical direction for organisations aiming to modernise their Moodle platforms in 2026. By focusing on three key areas, namely the experience layer through RemUI, the monetisation layer through Edwiser Store, and the intelligence layer through Edwiser Reports, institutions can create a more engaging and effective learning environment.

We would also like to thank Rushi for sharing valuable insights, and to all participants for their active involvement. Stay tuned for upcoming sessions in the Pukunui 2026 webinar series as we continue to explore innovations in digital learning.
